Materials Contributing to the versatility of spiral duct are the many different materials that can be used in its fabrication. All materials herein are fabricated with the highest quality in mind and are built to the specifactions set forth by SMACNA guidelines. |

Additionally, most materials listed below can be constructed in a double-wall configuration. |

Galvanized ASTM A527 G-90 is a steel sheet that has been zinc-coated through a hot-dip process. It is of lock-forming quality and has been chemically treated or oil coated. G-90 or better galvanized steel is suitable for exterior ductwork and can be exposed to high humidity. Paint-Grip Galvanized is the common name for a paintable galvanized surface. Although there are other terms, the reference is to any galvanized sheet surface that can or has been “phosphatized.” The benefits of “paint-grip” are not only esthetic. It also possesses excellent corrosion resistance because the sheeting has been galvanized and then when painted, a dual barrier of protection is created to the ductwork. This, in-turn, can create a longer service life and reduce replacement costs. Polyvinyl Coated is manufactured from galvanized steel and coated with polyvinyl chloride. The two materials combined add strength and resistance to premature deterioraition that may be caused by corrosive salts, other potentially detrimental minerals within the soil and/or harmful materials being distributed through the duct. Polyvinyl coated duct is commonly used undeground for air delivery and fumigation systems because it possesses both the strength of steel and the inertness of plastic. Aluminum type 3003-0 is an alluminum/manganese alloy that has been strain hardened and is widely used as a general purpose alloy for moderate strength applications requiring good wokability. It responds well to many processes, including: welding, forming, drawing and bending. Cold-Rolled Steel is metallurgically designed to provide specific attributes such as: high formability, deep drawability, high strength, high dent resistance, enamelability, paintability... Because of the many potential attributes we must fully understand the specific end-use application to find the product to best suit your needs. |
